Discover the magic of rowing online
Wondering how it works?
If you’ve never rowed online with other schools, you’re in for a treat. It’s fun, engaging, and totally motivating!
Here's how it works:
- You join the Oarbits Online Rowing Club - it's free and you can join your school online directly from RowPro.
- You look in the Oarbits Session List and join an Online Rowing session that suits you. If you don't see one at the time you want, just create one yourself, and other schools will soon join.
- A few minutes before your Online Rowing session is due to start, you connect RowPro to your Indoor Rowers with your PC connected to the Internet. Any type of Internet connection will do - DSL, Cable, Wireless, Satellite, 3G or even just Dial-up.
- With a few easy clicks you go online and check in to your Online Rowing session. Other schools check in, you 'talk' to each other via the built-in RowPro Chat, and when you're all ready to go, one of you clicks Start to start the session.
- As you row, you see the boats from other schools in the lanes beside your school's boat. Up to 16 boats can participate in each Online Rowing session.
- After the session you chat with the other schools again until it's time to go.
The power of rowing online
Rowing online transforms school rowing from a PE activity to an inter-school team competition and a national / international sport with long-term development opportunities.
Rowing online completely eliminates the substantial time, cost and effort involved in getting bus-loads of students and supporting equipment across to another school for indoor rowing competitions.
Rowing online also opens up inter-school training and competition opportunities for schools who are too far away to practically engage with each other any other way. This can include sister schools in other regions or countries, nearby schools all served by a single rowing coach, and other schools outside the practical travelling range.
That's the power of rowing online - fun, motivation and involvement for students, and great opportunity for school rowing coaches and administrators to expand their contact with other schools. Just try it. You'll love it.
