New Online Rowing System Released

BOSTON, Sep 14, 2008

Digital Rowing has announced the release of RowPro 2.3, complete with an all-new 3rd generation Online Rowing system.

The new Online Rowing system is around 30 times more precise than the previous system used in RowPro 2.0. Each participant now sees the boats in the same position as every other participant, plus or minus the length of a bow flag.

This is a major technical breakthrough, and was one of the prime reasons for developing the new Online Rowing system.

"The Online Rowing system is now as precise as the Venue Racing systems used by Concept2 at National and World Championship events" says Digital Rowing President Pete Loeffen, "and it achieves this precision not just across the room, but across the entire planet."

The new system makes it possible for up to 16 people worldwide to row together online using virtually any type of Internet connection, including dial-up and even satellite connections, for training, racing and just rowing together.

"The 3rd generation technology used in the new system is designed to make Online Rowing simpler, more stimulating and more reliable than ever before" says Pete Loeffen, "and this has been achieved by working closely with our Online Rowing community through an extended year-long beta program."

Online Rowing has grown substantially since it was first introduced 4 years ago. Over 30,000 boats have now crossed the virtual finish line online, and over 160 million meters have been rowed online.

"We are delighted at the popularity of Online Rowing" says Pam Loeffen, Digital Rowing's Online Rowing Co-ordinator, "and enjoy seeing the great friendships developing among our online rowers. Birthday rows are particularly popular, where groups of online friends row together to celebrate birthday."

Organized groups are already forming to take advantage of the new Online Rowing system. "The people you meet, the training partners you are able to hook up with, the online racing, it's really great. It is without a doubt the best motivational tool I've ever come across" says Chad Goss, a seasoned RowPro user and organizer of regular online rowing activities.

"During the coming months and years, we will continue to refine and build on the Online Rowing experience" says Pete Loeffen. "There's nothing else like this, and we believe it has a great future."
