AMSTELVEEN, Jan 27, 2008An enthusiastic group of four Dutch RowPro Rowers have completed the first ever 4-erg marathon row in Amstelveen in the Netherlands using the new multi-erg RowPro School Edition. "When we were visiting GB for the BIRC this autumn we agreed to do a full marathon as a prep for the Dutch open ergo marathon March 1" said Hennie Martini, one of the four participants. "We are all RowPro enthusiasts, and at the BIRC we heard from Digital Rowing President Pete Loeffen about the new multi-erg capability of RowPro, so we decided to take the opportunity to do our prep marathon using RowPro." Participant Tom Zalmstra borrowed a PM3 from Concept2 in the Netherlands to do the Venue Race, and all went very smoothly on the day. The results, shown on the screen image above, were very impressive. "It was a real nice workout with friends" said Tom Zalmstra. "My best marathon ever. Nice companionship (we talked until 30k), good music (we chose our own play list), fast final 8K for me (ave pace 2:03), not a PB but I don't mind; beer and dinner at Pieter's place afterwards." "This is a great use of RowPro" says Pete Loeffen "and we warmly congratulate the Dutch RowPro Rowers on their world first RowPro 4-erg marathon." "Next time we will do it in two doubles (me and Pieter against Hennie and Kees)." says Tom Zalmstra. "More fun. When will Rowpro support that? Venue race in combination with online race: even better!" Postscript, Sept 2008 - With the release of RowPro 2.3, RowPro now supports doubles, quads and even octuples for Venue Racing, and there are plans to extend this to Online Rowing in the future.
