• Company

Founded in 2002, Digital Rowing was created to bring together rowing and computer technology, the prime focus being to develop and market computer software for home, school and gym users of Concept2 Indoor Rowers.

See the Digital Rowing Timeline for a snapshot of our history.

    Founders

Digital Rowing is a US company, but its founders Pete Loeffen and Pam Loeffen are New Zealanders ("Kiwis").

Pam has a lifetime's experience rowing on the water and indoors as an athlete and coach, and leads the fast-growing Online Rowing community.

Pete has a lifetime's experience in technology and business and leads the development and marketing of RowPro.

    Team

Digital Rowing is a small software company with just a handful of software engineers in its core team led by Glenn Ramsey, who develops the real-time parts of RowPro, and Jerome Howard, who develops web services for RowPro.

Jon Ackland of Performance Lab International created the RowPro Training System, and Olympic Rowing Coach Brian Hawthorne 'coached' the RowPro 3D Oarsman.

    RowPro

RowPro is the flagship software product of Digital Rowing, designed to provide a complete toolkit of useful features for people rowing at home, in schools and in gyms.

Today RowPro is the result of more than a decade of active design and development by the Digital Rowing team.

  • Concept2

Digital Rowing has been working with Concept2 Inc. for over a decade to integrate RowPro with the PM2+, PM3 and PM4 monitors, and to enable RowPro to upload results direct to Concept2 Personal Logbooks. Also, the Online Rowing system in RowPro is partly based on an early e-Row Internet Racing development by Concept2.

    Distributors

Digital Rowing has distributors in the US and Canada, the UK and Europe, and several other countries. These are all Concept2 Distributors in their respective countries.

See the Worldwide Distributors page for a list of Distributors.

    Community

An active and vibrant RowPro community has built up around Online Rowing. With RowPro now sold in over 40 countries, people meet online and quickly become friends with others all around the world.

People who had never heard of each other before RowPro have become great friends after rowing together online, and many have gone on to meet each other in person. We are amazed at the number of stories we hear about new friendships and life-changing events triggered by RowPro.

    Events

Digital Rowing regularly showcases RowPro at a number of major rowing events worldwide, including the CRASH-B Sprints (World Indoor Rowing Champs) in Boston, the BIRC (British Indoor Rowing Champs) in the UK, the HOCR (Head of the Charles Regatta) in Boston, the World Rowing Champs at Lake Karapiro, NZ, and the BORC (British Online Rowing Champs).
